People in Almuñécar who use the Camino Forestal are going to be happy bunnies because they have replaced the dirt surface with a tarmacked one.
The Councillor for Agriculture, The Environment and Tap Dancing, (just joking), Luis Aragón, cast a proprietoral eye over the winding lane, accompanied by the Councillor for Maintenance and Harpooning (could be joking) Beatriz González.
The Town Hall had ploughed ahead with the asphalting of the Cuesta del Forestal, which means that now the whole of The Camino de Río Seco has a tarmac surface; some eight kilometres, which connect up with the Vereda de Cordovilla.
This lick of the tarmac was applied by a local company, Viales Progreso using a budget of 80,228 euros and were allotted two months in which to complete the task.
Councillor Aragón said that it is just so wonderful now for farmers and country residents who have to use this lane, which is the responsibility of the Town Hall to maintain. Along this lane are six fords; i.e., places where rain water can wash over the lane without washing it away – that’s the plan at least.
Sr. Aragón said that the lane between Camino de Guerra and Carrizalejo is the next one on the hit list, which is about ten kilometres long, but you’re already bored enough about the Cuesta del Forestal without me droning on about the Pago de Guerra one,
