The Guardia Civil found two snares on somebody's land and in one of them they found a young boar struggling to free itself. The use of snares is completely illegal.
The reason that Seprona remove snares is because they are indiscriminate and trap all kinds of animals, including domestic animals and pets.
The Guardia Civil had been alerted to the presence of the snared animal by somebody living on Monte de Los Almendros, who had reported it. The boar had one of its legs trapped in the snare and was very much alive, although in agony.
The officers intended to cut through the galvanised-steel wire but the animal seeing two humans approaching, tugged so hard in panic that it slice through its own leg. Even though badly injured, it managed to escape… and will have no doubt bled to death.
The officers inspected the plantation and saw that it was completely fenced it. However, there were two holes in the fence, which is where the owner had placed the snares.

Heartbreaking! Acceptable punishment would be tying the owner up in a snare and staking him to a fire ant mound!
Better to have shot it. Rather then leave it to slowly die. If there’s a heaven. The boar will be waiting. Really annoys me. !!
Toss pot. Should snare his bits. !!
Yes I know the wild boar are a pain. But snares catch cats and others too.
Poor baby boar. Probably the one I saw going home a few weeks ago. Size of a dog. What a twat. Fix the blooming holes. !!
