The Guardia Civil are investigating two deaths in Albuñol; after bodies were found in their flat.

As an hypothesis the deaths are being considered a gender violence because around one yesterday morning the emergency call-centre, 112 received a call warning of an attack on a 40-odd-year old woman carried out by a family member.

However, when the police arrived at the flat on the 1st floor of Nº15, Camino del Visillo it was to find the bodies of a married couple; a 60-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman. The couple are from Albuñol and well known both of whom worked in the agricultural sector.

The bodies have been taken to the Instituto de Medicina Legal, IML, in Granada so that autopsies can be carried out to establish the cause of their deaths.

The Mayor of Albuñol, María José Sánchez, has expressed her condolence to the family and friends. Furthermore, she has suspended the planned El Pozuelo Fiestas and decreed three days of official mourning.

Update 08.41h: the woman, Trinidad died immediately from a shotgun wound and her husband, whom she was intent upon divorcing – she had just filed the papers – died by the same weapon, most likely self-inflected. What is certain are the circumstances but not the motive nor whether a third person was involved, no matter how likely a murder -&-suicide scenario is.
