The Guardia Civil have made two arrests in connection with the shootings in the area of Rules Reservoir Wednesday evening and are searching for more suspects.

GRA ALP Shootings Rules ReservoirOne man was killed outright and the other severely injured with a stomach wound, who remains in the ICU of Hospital Neurotraumatología del Virgen de las Nieves in Granada. The first reports stated that the incident took place in the dam’s car park but it now appears that it took place further along the road towards Órgiva, across the road from the large, abandoned, concrete structure.

Police believe that 6-to-eight people were present belonging to two rival parties. At some point gun fire broke out and a 44-year-old Serbian was shot dead and one of his companions, aged 41, seriously wounded. Immediately the participants fled the scene including the two remaining colleagues, who later phoned 112 giving the location of the victims. However, two cars were left behind.

The police went back to inspect the scene and the two cars, one of which was Peugeot 607 (2004), which was sold about seven months ago by a French, 2nd-hand-car outlet, based in Madrid. The other car was a Volkswagen saloon car (no further details were given). Both cars were searched for fingerprints and DNA traces.

Editorial comment: the Ideal accounts of the incidents posted yesterday (now not available)  and a follow-up one today appear to contradict themselves, as today’s article says that the shooting took place yesterday evening yet we had already reported on it in the morning of Thursday so it must have taken place Wednesday evening and not Thursday evening, as reported.
