It was back in May that one of the opposition parties asked the Mayor of Almuñécar for an explanation concerning the Altillo Parking being closed.
Today the situation remains the same, meaning that Almuñécar is denied one of its main beachfront parking areas as it is inaccessible at the height of the tourist season. The Town Hall has taken some steps to remedy the situation but they have clearly been insufficient.
We reported on the situation on the 27th of June after another opposition party raised the alarm over sewage appearing on one of the levels. Residents with reserved parking spaces, however, can use the parking area, but not anybody else; i.e., tourists.
The leader of the local branch of IU Podemos said, “we ask the Town Council to exercise more alacrity in fixing the problem and that they keep people informed on how the repair work is going, as well as giving a projected reopening date.
