The Guardia Civil in the city of Granada are investigating the alleged kidnapping attempt of a young boy that took place in Ambroz in Vegas del Genil.
The victim’s father reported the incident to the police; he stated that his 8-year-old son had been offered sweets by a man in a black van but the boy had taken fright and run home. The boy described the man as tall and with light-coloured eyes.
The Guardia Civil immediately set up road checks at the road entry points into the municipality in an attempt to find the ‘black van,’ as described by the boy. Furthermore, they have examined CCTV images from several premises in the area where the encounter allegedly took place but to date they haven’t found images that correspond to the vehicle or the man.
The Mayor of Vegas del Genil, Leandro Martín, has asked for the townsfolk to remain calm so that the various police forces can do their job. “There are thousands of black vans driving around the metropolitan area of Granada so we can’t ask members of the public to be on the look out for one [implying that it would be chaotic].
