According to the police union, Sindicato de la Policía Local, Salobreña finds itself "in a vulnerable and insecure situation."
This, they claim, is because of a lack of staff in the municipal-police department, making it difficult to carry out normal duties and routines. They even say that there are days when there are no police officers on duty.
Despite this lack of manpower, the Town Hall’s summer cultural programme has many events involving crowds, they warn.
The SIPL point out that in 2018 the municipal police had a staff of 30 yet in 2022 it stands at only 14. If that were not bad enough, within six months this insufficient number will be reduced further to only ten officers owing to four officers reaching retirement.

So the various town councils have cash for arty farty cultural events. Fairs, fiestas, cycle races etc.Rather then correct police numbers
Police overtime.!! But not to pay and ordered to pay,but ignore.
Cultural events are fine. But I’d rather coppers on the beat. !!
