Escape Rooms are very popular in the province, both in the capital and other towns for groups of friends or families, but this one ended in somebody in the ICU.
The incident took place on Sunday in an Escape Room set up in Cájar when a 42-year-old woman from Alhendín suffered such severe burns that she had to be evacuated to the Major-Burns Ward in Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Sevilla.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with Escape Rooms, they are set ups where participants have to follow clues and solve riddles in order to free themselves from the room or rooms.
The mother-of-two was accidentally covered in inflammable liquid (reportedly, gasoline) which ignited and caused extensive burns to parts of her body, explained Guardia Civil sources.
At first she was taken to the general hospital in Granada, Hospital de Neurotraumatología del Virgen de las Nieves, which normally deals with head injuries but given the seriousness of her burns she was quickly transferred to the regional hospital that specialises in burns.
The premises, which is within a seemingly derelict manor house, twelve kilometres from the capital, was immediately closed down by the Guardia Civil and the gates to the property sealed with police tape.
