The Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios (AEMPS) has issued an alert over the side effects of a popular blood-pressure drug.
Enalapril/hidroclorotiazida, (20/12,5 mg), made by the pharmaceutical company, Stada, is being withdrawn by the AEMPS and is used to counter high blood pressure (hypertension) and symptomaic congestive heart failure (CHF).
The withdrawal was ordered after side effects not included in those listed in the medication-package insert were discovered. This does not affect every batch distributed, but rather one particular one:
