Hotels Reopen

Hotel Sol Los Fenicios in La Herradura reopened for the season on the 20th of last month; a little later than usual but to full bookings, nevertheless.

The reason for the delay was because the ravages of the calima episodes had to be eliminated all around the outside of the hotel, as well as the interior-patio garden.

Run by the prestigious, Spanish, hotel chain, Sol Meliá, this hotel first opened its doors over three decades ago. It was the first 4-star hotel on the Costa Tropical, designed and built by local developer, Jesús Álvarez Cienfuegos.

It boasts amongst its hotel guests over the near three decades that it has been operating the ex-King Juan Carlos I and Reina Sofía in August 1993, who had come to the coast to be present at the funeral of the Belgian monarch, King Baudouin.

La Herradura was still awaiting its other hotel to reopen at the time of the writing of this article; i.e. Hotel Best Alcázar, and hotel Almijara, which, by the way, has changed hands and is now run by a Torre-del-Mar-based, hotel company.
