The Almuñécar Town Council has held a Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the Town Council to deal with the Municipal Market... or lack of it.
The voting was on a budget modification to cover the building of the market, which would require a four-million-euro loan.
The governing coalition, made up of the PP, Más Almuñécar and Ciudadanos, (which depends on the support of the IU to gain a majority) complained a week ago about a supposed “continual boycott” by the main opposition party, (CA) when it came to moving forward administratively on the market project.
The power behind the throne of CA, ex-Mayor Juan Carlos Benavides, did not attend the Plenary Meeting, along with three other councillors belonging to his party. In other words, the CA did not defend its allegations against the Market Project, according to the Mayor, Trinidad Herrera. Consequently the allegation was rejected by popular vote.
The Mayor concluded by stating that the new market already has a project drawn up, a construction company which wants the task, and monies earmarked to cover it.
