Another Jab for +60s?

The Minister for Public Health for the Junta de Andalucia, Jesús Aguirre, has stated that the immunity coverage for over 60s is dropping.

AND Health Committee AguirreThis is the case for Andalucía, which he considers might require a fourth jab, especially those over 80.

For this reason he has asked the Ministry of Public Health for the Central Government to authorise this extra booster.

He announced this at a press call in Priego (Córdoba) whilst pointing out that the contagion rate has gone up following Semana Santa, including cases that required hospital treatment.

Andalucía presently has 588 people being treated in hospital for Covid, which together with ICU occupation is the only real indication of how the pandemic is going, as most people don’t even report (or even know) if they are infected.

Summing up, the Andalusian Minister of Health wants authorisation from the Central Government to administer a booster shot for residents of 80 or over in homes for the elderly.

“In storage we have enough vaccines,” he concluded.
