Yesterday saw furious wave action along the Costa Tropical, and the Axarquía end of the Costa del Sol, causing damage to seafront infrastructure.
The emergency number received 70, gale-related calls during the course of Tuesday but fortunately none of them involved deaths or injuries
Six metre waves crashed against beaches in Estepona, according to the Policía Local, causing damage to the coastal pathway in the Costalita and Costa Bella areas.
Meanwhile on Playa del Saladillo, Protección Civil reported that the surf had seriously damaged a chiringuito.
Over in Almería, surf on Playa de Garrucha (near Mojácar) had swept away a beach access walkway and municipal workers were only able to salvage one lifeguard module. Furthermore, the dunes have disappeared.
In Castell de Ferro (see photo) the track leading down to Playa Punta Rincón was damaged and the balustrade along the seafront was destroyed in places. Several boats pulled up onto the beach were also damaged.
Finally, in Almuñécar on Playa Velilla, a chiringuito was wrecked by the waves.
