Castell Burglary

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Castell de Ferro, suspected of committing a burglary using keys to gain entrance.

This arrest was part of the Guardia Civil, police operation, Camisón (bedgown) that was launched to clarify the burglary of the home of a 77-year-old woman on the 12th of March. She had reported the incident three days later to the local Guardia Civil post.

It was around 17.00h when two young men, using the said keys, entered her home whilst she was inside. One of them sat with her, to keep an eye on her whilst the other went to work, searching the home for valuables.

The second individual found 350 euros in her bedroom and her mobile phone, after which they left the house without causing any harm to the victim.

Apparently, the victim had lost a set of keys some days previous to the incident, which explains how they were able to enter.

It was the main Guardia Civil post in Motril that carried out the investigation, starting with tracing the stolen mobile phone using its IMEI code. They also showed the victim mug shots of local known criminals and she was able to identify the one that was sat with her.

The police soon located and arrested him, holding him in remand whilst his accomplice is tracked down.
