Owing to work near the crater where the municipal market stood, there will be traffic diversions in place from Monday the 28th.

This work will be on mains water, sewage and rain drain, underground infrastructure and will affect the Avenida Europa, Callejón del Virgo, San Juan and Calle Sánchez Chávez.

Now, if you are unfamiliar with Almuñécar street names this boils down to that the street that runs below where Radiovision (Callejón del Virgo) was which will now be 2-way traffic, which in turn means there will be no parking along it. Once you get to the cross road with Avenida de Europa, it is blocked off, so you can’t carry on along the side of the ‘missing’ market.

The only way you are going to be able to go down Avenida Europa will be to access it from Calle Guadix (the one that runs down beside the river, and then turn left along the street that runs below the Aquario. The traffic flow on this street (Calle San Juan) has been reversed – normally you can only drive the opposite way.

It is hoped that the work will have concluded by the beginning of Semana Santa.
