Transport Strike Affects Fiestas

Although the Central Government and representatives from the transport sector have come to an agreement, it will take sometime for things to return to normal.

LH Fiestas Maque not taken downApart from rapidly emptying supermarket shelves, there are other signs that the road-transport strike is still biting, one of which are the marquees that were erected on the Plaza de la Independencia and in the gardened area of the fort in La Herradura which both remain where they are because there are no lorries to come and take them away, despite the fact that the fiestas ended last weekend.

The First Councillor for the village, Juan José Ruiz Joya, pointed out that the fairground attractions were taken down and away within only two days so that normal traffic flow could be restored to the beachfront area.

Accordingly, he has apologised for the inconvenience caused, the plaza, for example, is where the weekly market is normally held – but he assures villagers that just as soon as road transport is fully reestablished these structures will be removed and taken away.
