Cardiologist Coverage in Motril

The Southern Granada Health Area and the Hospital Universitario Clínico San Cecilio in Granada have agreed to provide cardiologists for Hospital Santa Ana.

MOT Santa Ana Hospital 400x250The Cardiology Department at Santa Ana will receive an “adequate coverage for heart patients on the coast,” reads the Junta de Andalucía (SAS) press release.

Motril hospital has been short staffed in this department but from the 1st of April, Costa Tropical and the Alpujarra with have eight appointment periods, both mornings and afternoon for diagnostics, treatment and follow-up heart-problem patients.

To accomplish this, cardiologists from the Hospital Clínico in Granada will go down to Santa Ana from Monday to Friday to attend to patients during morning and afternoon appointments.

Thus, outpatients will have appointments two days a week. Another two days will be dedicated to Echocardiography. The fifth day will be set aside for Holter monitoring: The Holter’s most common use is for monitoring ECG heart activity (electrocardiography or ECG). These will all be morning appointments

In the afternoons, there will be more doctor’s appointments and carrying out tests.

Whilst some heart-related services will continue to be provided in Granada, such as cardiac stress tests (also referred to as CPX) and advanced electrocardiography. However, those who need pacemaker check-ups or check-ups at the Unidad de Insuficiencia Cardiaca will receive attention in Motril as specialists will come down several times a month.
