The Guardia Civil in Castell de Ferro arrested two young men, suspected of having carried out a burglary.
The two men, aged 25 and 26 and both with criminal records, were caught red-handed inside a dwelling in this Costa Tropical, seaside town.
One of them, seeing the officers about to arrest them, decided to rush the policemen, attempting to brush them aside but after a brief struggle he was subdued and cuffed.
The result is that not only will the man be charged with breaking & entering, but also with having violently resisted arrest.
Both officers attended the medical centre afterwards to have their slight injuries confirmed by a doctor so that a medical report could be entered as evidence against the individual.
It was during the early hours of the 19th of this month that two neighbours phoned the Guardia Civil to say that thieves were breaking into a dwelling on Calle Riscal Poniente.
When the police patrol arrived it was to see that there were lights on in the house and the front door had been forced open with a crowbar. It was within the house that they came across two North-African males making a pile in the centre of the room with the items that they intended to carry away with them.
Editorial comment: before somebody makes a negative observation about including the culprits’ origin, the Gazette has the policy of stating all nationalities, if given, whenever the person is not Spanish, regardless of where they come from. The politically correct abstain, please.

I see the chancellor in the UK. Has frozen the tax threshold for 5 more years. Affectively robbing lower paid. By making them pay taxes as the next five years unfold. Oh yes and pensioners with pensions amounting to more then the threshold. Once again. Rob the poor to keep who. ??

Some eggs run the local towns. Villages. Cities. Or may even be Royal Eggs in a lined basket.
But yes. Good should overcome bad.
But some bad persons always take advantage of kindness.
Barry: the press release stated, Magrebies, which is North West Africa; i.e. Morocco & Algeria. I fully agree that many of them live in squalid conditions, paid miserly wages and suffer racial abuse – there is no question of it.
In every nationality there are ‘bad eggs’ – Costa del Crimen comes to mind during the heyday of the presence of the London Underworld. And it is also true that there are very good souls of all nationalities – you only have to remember the Almuñécar flood about a decade back when it was subsaharan immigrants who were the first to pick up shovels and clear the mud from the streets, despite facing low-key racism on a daily basis.
As I said, we cite the nationality of the criminal when he or she is not Spanish. I personally believe that guests of a country should be held to higher standard that the hosts.
Martin. Can you be a bit more specific about the origins these chaps come from. North Africa is a bit large. Are they legal. ?
Or like so many , taken advantage of cheap labour. Taken advantage of by nasty twits that own land. No social etc.
Covid has a lot to answer for. I lost a whole summer’s work. But had some savings to fall back on.
I’m not saying they are ok to steal. But I cannot see things getting much better for the average person. Yet alone the illegals. Do you. ??
