Officers from the Policía Nacional in Motril found a boy who had gone missing; they came across him heading towards heavy surf on a beach.

The Motril police station received a call from a distraught mother to say that her young son had gone missing so a patrol was sent to her home to obtain a photo and other information that would help find him.

The mother, who was extremely anxious because the child suffers from a pronounced reduction in mental ability, explained that it was possible that he was near a particular establishment on the beach, which is where they found him.

The child was intending upon entering the surf when the police found him and were helped by an angler who had been fishing nearby.

The child was returned safely to his mother, none the worse for the the experience.
