No Plácido Domingo Concert

The Motril Town Hall has postponed the Plácido Domingo concert, which was scheduled for the 26th of this month in the Plaza de Toros.

MOT Placido DomingoThe reason is because of the recent adverse weather conditions (calima) leaving behind accumulated mud and leaks, according to the municipal inspector’s report.

It concludes that the Plaza de Toro does not meet the necessary standards for the concert without a drying out period of between 20 and 30 days.

The surface also has to be compacted down in order to support the weight of a covered stage and the rest of the necessary infrastructure for the concert that would permit it to go ahead regardless of the weather.

Pending a new date for the concert, the organising entity has guaranteed that all entrance tickets already acquired will be refunded 100% for those who do not wish to wait for the new date and request their money returned instead.

To obtain information on how to get your entrance ticket refunded, you can email info.entradas@motril.es or phone 958 838 449.

The Town Hall says that given that Sr Domingo wishes to go ahead when possible, the Department of Culture has looked into the possibility of other venues but none have sufficient space for the numbers expected.

For all of the above reasons the Town Hall and all of the sponsors thank Plácido Domingo for keeping his agenda open for an eventual concert, as well as the soprano, Mariola Cantarero, Pianist Eugene Kohn and the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra for their understanding.
