Workers from the Ideal, daily-newspaper protested yesterday over the printing plant closure and nine fellow workers being laid-off.
It was on the 31st of January that the company infomed nine workers that their employment in the printing plant would cease forthwith, which was not exactly cricket.
The workers union, CCOO, rejected the way in which is was done and the reasons given for their end of employment: “a concentration and adaption process to the new model of journalism management.”
The union demands maintaining stable employment because of the deep roots of the Ideal newspaper, which is a “provincial benchmark in the news media,” whose printing has always been carried out in Granada.,
This strike/protest action is scheduled to continue for nine days, starting yesterday.
