House Embargo & Hash

The bank representatives and workers arrived at the flat on Calle Azahar in Alhendín with the keys and entered the dwelling that they were told was occupied by squatters – they were going to have them evicted as the property was subject to a bank embargo.

However, although the flat was empty of occupants, it certainly was not empty as several rooms were filled with marihuana plants. In fact, out on the street was the familiar smell of this kind of ‘crop.’

The rooms were fitted out with halogen lamps and a network of irrigation tubes to water the 250-odd plant pots. Of course, the whole system was wired up illegally to an electricity supply.

As always when carrying out an eviction, the bank representatives were accompanied by officials from the courts, so they immediately informed the Guardia Civil of the situation.

Once the Guardia Civil had whisked away the offending greenery, the bank representatives changed the locks. Evidently, the police are quite keen to find out who the ‘gardeners’ were…
