A man was injured when the fence around a mirador (vantage point) gave way when he leant against it, causing him to topple over and down a steep slope.
The accident took place around 13.00h last Saturday in the town of Bayárcal in the province of Almería.
He was evacuated by helicopter to the area hospital in the Poniente Almeriense (Western Almería).
The mirador, or panoramic viewing area, is at the side of the AL-5402 where it passes through the Municipality of Bayárcal.
It appears that the man sat on the cross beam between two stone posts, with his back to the drop. It gave way and he plummeted five metres down a steep barranco.
