Lentegí Wobbled

The earth tremor felt on the Costa Tropical has already made the rounds on social media... but we're not proud and will cover it anyway.

COS Earth Tremor 05JA22 LentegiYes, Lentegí was just the place for a Martini shaken, not stirred as the epicentre for this 3.5 earth tremor was directly under it.

The seismic activity took place at 11.19h yesterday morning, according to the Instituto Geográfico Nacional with an intensity of IV on a scale of one to ten.

The depth was not given, which is unusual, but the closer to the surface, the more strongly it is felt. Down on the coast in Almuñécar, for example, the intensity was III. Over the top of the hill in Molvízar is was IV the same as in Lentegí.

Last month, there was an earth tremor that registered 3.3 in magnitude on the Richter Scale but as it was 56 kilometres down, it was hardly felt, unlike this one below Lentegí, which must have been much closer to the surface.

Update: Lentegí has had another tremor this morning: 2.4 on the Richter Scale at 03.05h local time, no depth given
