The Sports and Leisure area next to the Casa Roja in Salobreña is slowly beefing out under the Second Phase of the area's development.
The First Phase comprised of the sports area in the form of a five-aside football pitch and a ping-pong table. The Second Phase is more along the lines of leisure, where traditional board games can be played.
The access from Calle Marcelino Camacho was sorted out and a gravel footpath laid, bordered with wooden posts. Stone tables have been set up with the Juego de la Oca (a sort of Snakes & Ladders) and Parchis. There are also black and white squares on the ground to play Chess or Draughts.
The Third Phase will comprise of a Pétanque playing area.
Editorial comment: I’m 64 and have only just realised that what I used to call ‘tiddlywinks’ is in fact parchis… Sad, very sad.
