Representatives for the General Workers Union at Almuñécar Town Hall have decided to reject the Christmas gift from the Town Council to the Policía Local.

It appears that councillors from the ruling coalition (PP-Ciudadanos-Más Almuñécar) turned up at the offices of the Policía Local on Christmas Eve bearing a Christmas Box with the intention of a photo of them handing over the gift.

Under different circumstances such a gesture would be welcome, however as the Mayor just had her knuckles rapped by a judge over unpaid overtime and does nothing to rectify this situation, they see the gesture as hypocritical.

So turning up, as if nothing were the matter in order to obtain a traditional photo of the exchange, went down like a lead balloon.

In fact, so annoyed were the Policía Local that they decided to hand it over to a charity that tends to families in economic difficulties, rather than accept such a “hypocritcal gift.” This was carried out that same day; i.e. Christmas Eve.
