Thanks to neighbours and fire personnel a dog was rescued from literally being hanged, dangling from a window by its own lead.
This incident took place on Avenida de Dílar, in the area of Granada know as Zaidín. The dog had been alone in the flat and tethered by its lead. Somehow, it manage to jump out the window and was left dangling there.
As it was a first floor window two neighbours had teamed up so that one of them could just reach it enough to take its weight until the fire service arrived.
The fire service arrived around 09.30h from their fire station, the Parque Sur de Bomberos. The crew’s senior fireman, Juan Jesús Barquero, explained: “we had received a call to say that a dog was being strangled by its own lead, hanging off a balcony on a first floor window…”
When the fire engine arrived the crew saw two women holding a dog up, taking the weight of its neck despite the dog, understandably, wriggling around.
The crew chief was the first to admit that it was really the women who saved the dog’s life because otherwise it would have asphyxiated before they had had a chance to get there.
It appears that there was a sofa under the open window and the dog jumped up over the sofa and fell out of the window. There was another dog in the room at the time.
Fireman Baquero explained that the dogs were well looked after, had food & water and that the flat was clean and tidy so there was no question of the dogs being in anyway neglected.
