Municipal maintenance workers have been busy on an old section of the N-340 road, which runs past the Mirador de Cerro Gordo.
The work consists of sorting out vegetation growth and sprucing up road markings and signs.
“The work is concentrated around the eastern entrance to the Mirador de Cerro Gordo, which previously had work carried out on it a couple of years ago, making sure that when the rains, come the gutters can handle it,”explained First Councillor, Juan José Ruiz Joya.
As for the western end, which gives access to Urbanización El Nogal and Playa Cantarriján, they will be using heavy machinery because there have been small rockfalls that need to be removed.
Once the Junta de Andalucía gives the go ahead, they will tarmac this whole section of road – the old road goes through what is now a Paraje Natural, hence permission being needed from the Junta, explained the councillor.
