Staff from the Área Sanitaria Sur de Granada (Costa Tropical & La Alpujarra) have come out in protest over an attack on an ambulance driver.
The attack came about last Friday night as the ambulance driver approached a victim of a road accident in Cádiar (Alpujarra).
The driver was transporting a patient to Narila in Cádiar. Along the way the ambulance came across a car that had suffered an accident, so he stopped to attend to the driver.
However, instead of gratitude, the crashed driver kicked the ambulance driver in the lower back (lumbar) and thumped him for good measure.
“We roundly condemn this act of aggression that took place in Cádiar against one of the ambulance personnel and express our complete solidarity with Ambulancias Romil,” said the Spokesperson for the Área Sanitaria Granada Sur in a statement on Twitter.
Editorial note: there are two kinds of ambulances; those that do transport runs, taking outpatients to hospital and bringing them back, and then there are the mobile A&E ambulances manned by paramedics. Ambulancias Romil belong to the former.
