A teenage school kid was hit by a school bus as he was using a zebra crossing. However, the crossing light was in red; i.e., he did not have right of way.

The incident occurred in the city of Granada and resulted in the 15-year-old being seriously injured.

According to the Policía Local, it happened around 15.00h last Friday as the school was emptying out.

A specialised ambulance with a paramedic on board was despatched to the scene, as well as the Policía Local. The victim was rushed to the Hospital de Neurotraumatología (Virgen de las Nieves)

Editorial comment: it is when schoolchildren are entering or exiting school when there is the highest concentration of vehicles in the vicinity and it is precisely when school finishes that kids are hyped up and more liable to do something spontaneous and unpredictable.
