A lorry burst into flames on the A-7 within the municipality of Carchuna yesterday morning, necessitating closing the eastbound lanes.
The lanes were reopened again later in the morning at 11.30h, after remaining closed several hours.
It was around six in the morning that 112 started receiving calls to say that there was an articulated lorry stopped on the A-7 just before the Calahonda tunnel, effectively blocking both eastbound lanes.
The Guardia Civil arrived and closed the lanes around 06.20h as the lorry had begun to burn. The Motril fire service put the fire out. Then the HGV had to be removed and debris removed from the road surface before reestablishing traffic flow.
