The Guardia Civil in Almuñécar arrested two men, accused of stealing building tools & equipment valued at 50,000 euros.
The suspects, aged 48 and 50, allegedly carried out the theft in September in a cortijo in Ítrabo.
The owner reported the theft of twelve skips, a diesel bowser/tank, two cement mixers, a plate compactor, a lattice mast and several metal girders or RSJs (Rolled Steel Joist).
It was the Almuñécar Guardia Civil post that took charge of the investigation, which led them to a scrapyard on the Costa Tropical where they found the bowser and some of the stolen skips.
Fortunately, scrapyards must keep a record of who leaves scrap with them so consulting their books the police found the name of the person who had sold the skips to the scrapyard. Before long, they also had the name of his accomplice.
The owner of the cortijo that was raided recognised the recovered material as his own.
