Despite local opposition from nearby residents, Almuñécar now has a dedicated beach for dogs, Playa Veintiuna.
The Councillor for Tourism and Beaches, Daniel Barbero, announced its opening yesterday on his facebook page.
So, those who own dogs can now take the mutts for a drag along this beach, which you will find just past Aparthotel Chinasol, heading towards Cotobro.
People who live in the blocks opposite protested over the idea as it is a beach that they regularly use themselves.
Users must obey normal regulations concerning dog droppings, as they would anywhere else in town.
Motril brought into being the first canine beach on the Costa Tropical, in 2016: the Playa El Cable.
