Calle Alcalde Julio Fajardo Work

Almuñécar Town Halls plans to renovate the pavement along Calle Alcalde Julio Fajardo, starting on the 13th of next month.

ALM Calle Alcalde Julio FajardoThe concept is to make the pavement the same as the road surface, along the lines of the Paseo del Altillo and Plaza Madrid facelifts. It won’t affect the whole street, assured the Councillor for Maintenance, Beatriz González.

She explained that it would affect 98 lineal metres of street, equivalent to 145 sq/m of surface area. This, she considered, would improve accessibility where there are zebra crossings – the idea is that drivers will have no difficulty driving onto the pavement to catch pedestrians unaware when waiting to cross.

Yes, I was joking and no, you can’t have  your money back.

“This task will improve the aesthetics of the street,” she said, adding that she will be very happy once it gets started.

The works contract went to a local company, Viales Progreso S.L, and is programmed to last four weeks and cost a total of 14,563 euros.

Hmmm not convinced that making the pavement like the road will do wonders for the aesthetics plus the jury is out on whether pedestrian safety will be compromised so i meekly suggest the €14,000 could be better spent elsewhere in the town
