The body of a man was found in Motril at the bottom of a 15-metre-deep well on Tuesday night, according to the 112, emergency call centre.
It was around 00.30h today (Tuesday night) when the call came in from a man who said his friend had fallen down a deep well in the Garnatilla area of the municipality. The caller explained that he could have been down there several days.
The friend had gone missing so the caller had gone out looking for him in an area where the victim often frequented.
The call centre informed the Motril fire service as well as an ambulance the Policía Nacional and the Policía Local.
When the fire personnel extracted the victim from the bottom of the well,, it was obvious that the victim was dead, so the coroner was informed so that the body could be removed and taken for an autopsy.
