Police Save Young Man’s Life

The Motril Policía Local saved the life of a young man in the early hours of Saturday the 14th in the fairground using CPR procedure.

MOT Fairground OnLThe officers on duty in the fairground area were approached by minor telling him that his friend urgently needed help – he had fainted and was lying unconscious on the ground.

They found the 17-year-old lad undergoing spasms in a semiconscious state and perspiring heavily so they put him in the recovery position and checked his air passages for any obstructions

They radioed in explaining that the victim appeared to be suffering from cardiac problems and required urgent medical assistance. Before the paramedics could arrive the victim suffered a cardiac arrest so the officers immediately began CPR procedure at the same time as taking him to their patrol car and rushing him directly to Hospital Santa Ana.

Upon arrival he was rushed to the Critical Care Unit, all the time continuing with CPR, where medical staff finally managed to stabilise his condition.

The doctors confirmed that if the police had not brought him in there and then together with the application of CPR, and had waited instead for an ambulance, the victim would have been dead on arrival.
