During all this week there have been roadwork, traffic lights on the N-340 where it passes through La Caleta in Salobreña after a small landslip.
At the beginning of the week, work comprised of just removing the fallen earth and stones but by Thursday a digger had begun to dig back the bank and on Friday, large boulders were laid to make a retaining wall.
Work stopped around midday Friday for the weekend, but temporary traffic lights will be set up again on Monday, until at least the wall is completed.
It would have been logical if they had turned off La Caleta traffic lights whilst the roadwork ones were in use because drivers stopped for a normal red light, even though a mere 50 metres further on, the roadwork ones were in green.
Friday also saw an unfortunate driver breakdown whilst queueing to cross from the entrance junction into Motril (the one nearest Salobreña). It was 17.30h and a breakdown lorry rapidly arrived, accompanied by the Policía Local, to remove the stricken car.
