Almuñécar Town Hall has replaced the ageing ticket machines in the underground parking in Velila with a bright and boisterious one.
It was not so much that they were old, admittedly, but rather that they were limited in their payment methods.
Councillor for Citizen Safety, Francisco Robles explained that now that the parking has the necessary access to internet (for charging against bankcards) the ticket machine can offer more ways of paying. The reason that things have been delayed is because it has taken a while for fiber-optic internet connections to reach Velilla.
“Until now you could only pay for a ticket in cash with the maximum banknote accepted 20 euros, which has provoked criticism,” explained Sr. Robles, adding, “these new machines, with an outlay of 30,000 euros, accept creditcards, making it easier for users.”
The San Cristóbal and Velilla car parks came into service over nine years ago: San Cristobal has a total of 429 parking places, 288 of which are rotative, and Velilla has 344 parking places, 148 are for public use.
