The Guardia civil pulled over two, local, bad lads in Vélez Benaudalla with just over a kilo of marihuana in the boot of their car.
This bust, which took place on the A-44 where it passes through the said municipality, was carried out by the Salobreña-based Guardia units.
The suspects, aged 29 and 38, both have criminal records and residents of Vélez Benaudalla, were dismayed to be pulled over at a road-control point mounted on the turn off for the village around 16.45h on the 19th of March.
The control point was set up to control traffic heading for the coast for the bank-holiday weekend and had a queue of cars waiting to be processed. One of the police saw somebody throwing a large, black bag out of a car about 50 metres down the queue.
An officer jogged down to where the bag was lying beside the road and was pleased to see that it contained just over a kilo of cannabis flowers, so he strolled over, tapped on the window and arrested the two occupants.
