A paraglider enthusiast had to be rescued yesterday afternoon after a gust of wind carried him onto rocks at the end of a beach in Pulpí in Almería.
The accident occurred a few minutes before five in the afternoon on the Playa de las Palmeras (also known as the Playa de Carolina). He had managed to land on the beach but a gust of wind lifted him back into the air and dashed him against nearby rocks.
The Guardia Civil, Protección Civil, Policía Local and an ambulance were despatched to the said beach. It was the Guardia Civil that managed get him down from the rocks and take him to where the ambulance was waiting. He was rushed to the general hospital, Huércal-Overa.
