As you can imagine, road, check points along the Costa Tropical have been in force, as well as patrols in the countryside and along streets.
The Motril Policía Local, for example tracked down a house party with 15 people participating last Saturday night in one of the town’s barrios (quarters).
This gathering infringed both the maximum number permitted as well as taking place after the curfew. When the police arrived, the majority weren’t wearing masks.
Once the police had identified all those present, they threw out all those that did not live there.
Despite this particular incident, the Councillor for Citizen Safety, Mara Escámez, said that in general people had acted responsibly during the long, bank holiday, but admits that at least two people a day had been fined for breaking curfew since the 4th of December .
Over in Almuñécar the Policía Local issued 33 fines just between Friday and Saturday, the majority during the latter (23)
The fines ranged from Almuñequeros trying to leave their municipality and outsiders trying to get in, but there were also those trying to cross over from the province of Málaga via Nerja.
