The First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, explained that repair work was soon be carried out on the village municipal market.

Apparently several floor supports have been damaged by leaks in the drains in the fishmonger section, explained Sr. Ruiz Joya, according to municipal construction experts.

“At no time have structural parts of the building been affected. It concerns supports that have deteriorated, which is why we are going to carry out this emergency work,” he stated, adding, “so work will start by exposing the supports, cleaning them and adding an anti-corrosive coating.” Work will conclude by replacing the drains in the fishmonger sector.

The First Councillor assured that the work will not affect the market’s functioning because it will be done from below in the Centro Jate.

The Mercado de La Herradura just over half a dozen stalls in use: one fruit stall, one butcher’s stall , three delicatessen stalls and two fishmonger stalls.
