If you live in Taramay and actually watch Spanish TV, then we have good news for you: they’re sorting out the TV mast for the area.

The Town Hall is going to throw a spanner around in the Centro Reemisor Municipal de TDT de Curumbico, and install a new signal booster replacing the old one, which is about 20 years old.

The Municipal Engineer explained that the device has a Gap Filler system with RF8 input/outputs and DAE (Digital Adaptive Equaliser; i.e., echo canceller). He said that it won’t solve all the problem caused by the mountainous terrain but it will improve the service.

This booster, which will cost around 15,000 euros, picks up the signal from the main transmitter on the Conjuro mountain.

Editorial comment: I used to live in Taramay between 1997 and the year 2000 and TV reception was terrible with certain private channels like Telecinco and Antena 3 missing. There was also a scandal concerning a grant received by the Town Hall that ‘disappeared.’
