A Guardia Civil drugs operation ended in a car chase and two arrests in Moraleda de Zafayona on the 13th of this month.
The incident unfolded around 19.30h on the Urbanización Los Tablazos (just next to the Plaza de la Constitución) when a patrol car from the Guardia Civil post in Huétor Tájar saw a car approaching which abruptly spun round, collided with the side of a building, and sped off down a dirt track.
The police accelerated in pursuit and almost immediately came across the car stopped half way down a bank with the 29-year-old, male driver running off across an open field. He not only abandoned the car, but also his female passenger.
One of the officers, who had stopped to make sure the 31-year-old woman was unharmed, saw that there were several packages containing marihuana onboard, which were later found to weigh seven kilos in total. The driver managed to evade capture.
The woman was arrested on drugs charges and taken to the police station in Huétor Tájar. The driver was arrested the next day, thanks to rapid police investigation. As for the car, it was impounded.
