The Guardia Civil maritime branch recovered a body from the sea yesterday and transferred it to Motril Port.
It was a G.C. patrol launch that located the body, which had been several days in the water 11 nautical miles off the Costa Granadina around midday, specifically to the south of Castell de Ferro.
Once docked in Motril Port the body was handed over to the Policía Judicial branch of the Guardia Civil, which took charge of its transfer to the Instituto Anatómico Forense in Granada for an autopsy.
The most likely origin of the victim would be a passenger on one of the many open boats that try to make the crossing from North Africa.
