NL Driver with Stolen D Car

MOT Policia NacionalA Dutchman was arrested in the centre of Motril with the keys of a high-range car, stolen in Germany.

The vehicle, which belongs to a rental company, was hired in the city of Düsseldorf  but whoever booked it had no intention of returning it.

To cut a long story short, the 27-year-old suspect was approached by the police because he had been standing outside a hairdresser in Motril as he was not wearing a mask.

The police must have sensed something very suspicious about the man because instead of just fining him, they got him to turn out his pockets and found 1,375 euros in cash and a set of keys to a high-range car but no car documents that identified him as the owner. He only had a photocopy of the permiso de circulación

The police immediately consulted the international list of stolen cars and discovered that the car was on it. He was then arrested and remanded in custody.

Editorial comment: yet another case of somebody who should be trying his best to pass unnoticed doing something stupid that attracts the police.
