Well, we’ve covered Motril and Salobreña so now it is the turn of Almuñécar concerning the amount of fines being issued over covid-restriction infringements.

The Policía Local have issued 33 fines since the night curfew came into force between 23.00h and 06.00h, and the obligatory closing times for businesses.

Eighteen of these findes were handed out for being out after eleven in the evening without a valid reason and ten for not wearing a mask. Four fines were issued for leaving or entering the municipality for reasons other than those permitted. Only one business was fined for not closing on time.

As for the All Saints bank holiday, the Policía Local came across several people who had come down from the city of Granada to stay in their holiday homes in Almuñécar or La Herradura. They arrived before the municipal closure came into force, taking up residence mainly along Velilla and San Cristobal.

Because of the news of a Estado de Alarma was on the way, many people decided to stay down here, either because they are pensioners or because they have jobs working from home,” explained the Chief of Local Police.
