Bank Holiday Fines

SAL Police Check Point PontanillaThe Mayor of Salobreña summed up the All Saints, bank-holiday weekend as “positive in general” as far as the behaviour of the townsfolk is concerned.

However, the Policía Local and Guardia Civil did hand out 19 fines at the check points on the cemeteries and at the entrances to the town.

Sixteen were issued by the Policía Local; some for not wearing a mask and others for being out after the curfew. They also fined a business for being open after the obligatory closing hour. The other three were issued by the Guardia Civil.

Editorial comment: Moving in and out of Salobreña each day, I have only come across one check point, but I was not stopped there. The check points appeared to be sporadic and only for a few hours each time. No doubt, this coming weekend starting Friday evenings will see a more notable check-point presence.

Changing the subject, don’t expect to find any parking in front of the Post Office/Caja Rural because it’s all been ripped up, together with the small square.
