Left out and Disappointed

AXA AlmácharAlmáchar is in the Axarquía and is one of the few towns that wants its town limits to be closed off yet the Junta did not include it in the shut down.

With its 1,811 inhabitants it has one of the highest contagion ratios in the whole of the province of Málaga, but despite requesting on the 26th of this month to be included… it wasn’t. So they got on to the Junta immediately and requested that the municipality be closed off.

The Junta delegate for public health told the mayor that it wasn’t deemed necessary as closures in Málaga are based on public-health districts and the one that it is in (La Axarquía) on a average basis is not a hotspot for contagion.

According to the Spokesman for the PSOE in Almáchar, Mario Torres, they feel “frustrated with the Junta’s decision with the growing contagion ratio because its no just about our municipality, but those that border on us.”

Editorial comment: here we have a case where a municipality wants to have its residents confined, not only for their own safety, but for the safety of those that share its borders and the Junta goes against it. It does seem rather illogical, doesn’t it.
