A man died in a light-aircraft accident around midday yesterday after attempting a landing at the aerodrome in Vélez-Málaga.
The emergency centre 112 received a call at 12.20h yesterday; the first of many, to say that there had been an accident on the runway Aeródromo de la Axarquía when the aircraft crashed on landing.
Although an ambulance and fire service arrived rapidly at the scene, there was nothing to be done for the 26-year-old pilot. The only passenger onboard was seriously injured and rushed to the Hospital Regional de Málaga.
Update 15/10: information since the crash indicates that it was not a light aircraft but a motorised glider.
